Q: How do I get to Grandview?
A: From Bloomington, take 2nd street/Bloomfield Road west. Turn right on Airport road. Turn right on Endwright Road. Drive past the entrance to Karst Farm Park. Grandview will be on your left. Visitor parking is in the front near the flagpoles.

Q: How many students are enrolled at Grandview?
A: Approximately 500 students attend Grandview in grade kindergarten through six.

Q: Do you have before and after school care?
A: Yes, the program is called Extended Day. The MCCSC Extended Day program can be reached at 330-7702. The program provides supervised care before school from 6:30 A.M. to 8:45 A.M. and after school from 3:15 P.M. to 6:00 P.M.

Q: How much are book fees?
A: Book fees average $130.84 per year. Kindergarten is about $44.29

Q: What documents do I need to bring to enroll my child?
A: An original birth certificate from the Health Department with seal, current shot record, and two documents to show proof of residency are required. Proof of residency may include a driver’s license, utility or phone bills, or a lease.

Q: Do you offer full day kindergarten?
A: Yes, we offer 2 full day kindergarten classes and a 1/2 day morning and afternoon kindergarten class. K-Club ,an extended day service, is also avaliable. It that provides supervised care and activities for a.m. kindergarten students who wish to spend the full day at Grandview. For K-Club enrollment and cost information call 330-7702.

Q: Where can I find out about school policies?
A: Call the school office at 825-3009. We maintain a district policy handbook of all school policies.

Q: What are the school hours?
A: Students may go to their classrooms at 8:45 A.M., classes begin at 9:00 A.M. School ends at 3:15 P.M. The last bus is usually called by 3:30 P.M.

Q: What do I need to do to visit Grandview?
A: We welcome parents to come out to Grandview. Please make arrangements with your child’s teacher if you want to visit or volunteer in the classroom. Many parents enjoy eating lunch with their child in our cafeteria. For safety we ask all visitors to sign in at the office when they arrive.

Q: How do I report when my child is absent?
A: Parents need to call the school office at 825-3009 before 9:00 A.M. to report an absence. Starting in the fall of 2002 we will contact the homes of students who are absent if no call is received before 9:00 A.M.

Q: How much are student meals?
A: Breakfast is $1.10 and lunch is $1.85. Free and reduced meals are available. Call the food services office at 349-4762 for free and reduced meal information.

Q: Can my child use the internet at school.
A: Yes, with your permission. A permission form is sent home with every child and must be returned signed before students may use the Internet. Teacher supervision and MCCSC filtering software make sure Internet use is appropriate.

Q: How can I contact my child’s teacher?
A: You may leave a voice-mail message or e-mail message with your child’s teacher. If a message needs to be relayed to your child immediately call the office.

Q: If school is delayed or cancelled how do I find out?
A: Local radio and TV stations will carry the news. Also, check the MCCSC homepage at http://www.mccsc.edu for official updates on closings and delays.

Q: How can I become more involved in Grandview?
A: There are many ways parents can become more involved in our school. Our PTO meets on the third Tuesday of every month at 6:30 P.M. in the library. Our teachers welcome parent volunteers to help in the classroom or chaperone field trips. Our library also welcomes parents who want to volunteer. Just call your child’s teacher or the office to find out about opportunities to become more involved in Grandview.
