Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. Martin's father was a pastor. His mother was a teacher. He had a brother and a sister in his family. He liked to play baseball, football and basketball. He liked to ride his bicycle and to sing. One day his friends and him were playing and his mother told him he would not be allowed too play with them again because they were white. He was not allowed to go to school because he was an African American. Because he was an African American, he learned how to read and write at home. His goal in life was to become an ordained minister. He attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. After graduating from college, he travelled to Boston and meet and married Coretta Scott. One year later, he had his own church. |
